About the opportunity

As part of our continued growth, we are pleased to invite applications from Software Engineers with web-based application development experience to join our team in Adelaide, SA.

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will work from our customer site at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) Edinburgh as part of a collaborative team of elmTEK colleagues, customer staff and contractors.

For 4 days per week, you will based on site and have the option to work from home 1 day per week.

The objective of the project is to provide an improvement to the current user interface for operators of the system leveraging technologies from JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and React.

There will be opportunities to travel to remote locations in support of test and evaluation activities.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Plan, develop, integrate, and test software products in an agile software development environment
  • Produce software products that meet our client’s complex technical environment

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Solid experience in a similar role, preferably within a defence environment
  • Proficiency with several software languages, preferably JavaScript (Angular/ React), Typescript, Spring Boot (Java)
  • Familiarity with Docker
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A tertiary qualification in software/computer systems engineering/computer science, or a related discipline

While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:

  • Familiarity with JavaScript map libraries such as Leaflet or OpenLayers
  • Experience with UI/UX Design
  • Software and Hardware integration experience
  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies and toolchain

Defence security clearance

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain clearance to NV1 level.

Baseline clearance as a minimum, will be required on commencement.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
